An important late Qing era multinational 'Qian Zhuang' banknote!

Issued in Yantai, Shandong Province by Liang Hao Chi. Black and yellow, ornate dragons at left and right, town scene at centre, hand signed signatures in Chinese and English at lower left and right, reverse purple, portrait of Liang at left, 'demand' text in English and places of redemption in Chinese. It is interesting to observe that the places of redemption include Hong Kong, Inchon, Busan, Kobe and Yokohama, reflecting the strength and trustworthiness of the bank in the region at the time. Extremely rare, with only a few pieces known to date and this example among the highest grades. PMG Comments "Annotation, Rust".

民國元年山東烟臺順泰號匯兌錢莊壹圓。
山東省煙台梁浩池發行。黑黃雙色,左右兩側各有一龍,中央可見城景,下方左右為中英手簽。反面紫色,梁浩池肖像在左。英文為兌換保證,漢字列出匯兌處。可兌換的地點包括香港、仁川、釜山、神戶和橫濱,足見此銀號當時在該地區實力宏厚,公信力高。極為罕見,至今僅知數張存世,而本拍品是當中評分最高的一張。PMG備註"筆註、鏽漬"。
