NETHERLANDS INDIES. Javasche Bank. 50 Gulden, 4.5.1938. P-81. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
Surpassed in the PMG population report by just a single finer example, this is an extremely rare uncirculated 50 Gulden from the famous Wayang series of the Javasche Bank. While the three lower denominations are fairly frequently encountered in uncirculated grades, the 50 Gulden (and higher denominations) are very rare at this grade level. They were just not saved at the time of issue, making high grade survivors rare. This piece displays strong originality and while it did not qualify for a Gem Uncirculated grade it certainly has the appearance of one. Important opportunity for the Indonesian specialist not to be missed.
