Previously unpublished date for this issue which according to the Pick catalog was first issued in 1925 (obviously, not correct). We are aware of a specimen for a 1918 date and an issued 1923 and 1925 date, but have never seen this 1919 date for this type. Of note is that the dates prior to 1925 lack a cursive R in the underprint on the front and constitute a different type compared to the examples of this type typically seen. The 1918 specimen and this note are the only ones we know of that have a single letter prefix (R) instead of a fractional prefix. Important opportunity for the South African or Rhodesian specialist and not be missed.
