The Polish government in exile in the early days of World War II must have had a lot on their mind, but they also had time to request and design notes from three different printers in preparation for the liberation of the country. While after the eventual liberation most would eventually be destroyed a fairly small number of sets were retained. Putting together such sets is challenging but not impossible, and this sale presents tremendous opportunity to acquire most of these rare and iconic. This 50 Zlotych has an image of an unidentified peasant woman on the front and a river scene on the back. Seen here in choice uncirculated condition with nice original paper and a strong appearance.
