NORWAY. Norges Bank. 100 Kroner, 1944. P-22b. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45.
The highest denomination of the important "London" series of bank notes. Dated 1944, and issued briefly in Norway after liberation from German occupation at the end of World War II. This series of notes is identical in design to the unissued 1942 series that was printed by Waterlow & Sons but was never issued. The 100 Kroner has a unique and very appealing color scheme, but thanks to the rarity of this issue, is lacking from even the most advanced collections. This example, like so many notes from the Al Kugel collection, is seen here in lightly circulated condition with strong eye appeal. The colors are bright, and this particular example is free from tears, pinholes or other problems. It would be a welcome addition to any advanced collection of Norwegian paper money. While print totals are not known, there are just eight examples presently graded by PMG, all of which are in circulated condition. As the citizens of Norway had very different things on their mind at the end of World War II this is no surprise, as few people would have worried about collecting paper money at the time.
From the Al Kugel Collection.
