NETHERLANDS INDIES. Javasche Bank. 50 Gulden, 1938. P-81. PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.
The Wayang series of the Javasche Bank, issued in the Netherlands Indies (present-day Indonesia) in the 1930s is one of the more appealing world paper money issues of the period, with native dancers as the main theme. While the three lower denominations are encountered with some frequency, the notes become progressively more difficult with each higher denomination. They are also rather scarce with fully original paper, as evidenced by the fairly small number that have received the "EPQ" designation from the grading service. Here is exactly such a note, which will be a welcome addition to any advanced collection of a collector who appreciates originality.
