1788 Connecticut Copper. Miller 2-D, W-4405. Rarity-1. Mailed Bust Right. VF-35 (PCGS).
Boldly double struck with portions of most of the motifs expressed twice on both sides, shifted by about three to four millimeters in between strikes, making for interesting study. The flan itself is slightly distorted and has a natural short, jagged split near 4 o'clock relative to the obverse. Dark olive brown surfaces are mildly granular throughout. A visually dramatic and very rare error striking with excellent detail.
PCGS# 687248.
From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier ex Philip Keller; Christopher B. Young, September 2011.
