1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 37.6-k.4, W-4135. Rarity-5+. Draped Bust Left, Skeleton Hand. Good-6 (PCGS).
148.6 grains. Deep tan and olive brown with a few small natural flaws and two rim bumps, each seen from only one side. Areas of higher relief, including the obverse late-state bulge at CT and the rim around the right reverse are lighter in tone and show some ancient abrasions. Shallow roughness over much of the surface. Fairly clear delineation of the details where struck up, but unevenly struck and weak across large areas. The skeleton hand is but ghostly.
PCGS# 687265.
From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier from Charles Kirtley's Mail Bid Sale 162, lot A45, July 1998.
