1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 36-l.1, W-4070. Rarity-5. Draped Bust Left. AU Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).
134.6 grains. Dark olive surfaces with some deep mahogany brown highlights. Granular and rough, but actually quite sharp. Though clearly lost and exposed to the elements for a while, the coin was pretty high grade when dropped. Nearly perfect centering on the obverse while the reverse is shifted slightly toward the upper right. Nearly all the detail is respectably sharp, though the coin was double-struck and the shift between strikes caused some peripheral elements to be a bit weak, mostly along the right obverse. While the surfaces are imperfect, there are no serious flaws, and the coin is quite satisfying overall.
PCGS# 687364.
