1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 33.13-Z.1, W-3550. Rarity-6-. Draped Bust Left, INDE over INDN. Fine-15 (PCGS).
123.0 grains. Deep olive brown with some lighter mahogany tones on the higher points of the motifs. A bit microporous but with a pleasing glossy appearance. This appears to have been struck on a defective flan that was very thin in one area, resulting in no struck details across the upper obverse and lower reverse. However, the reverse includes an area that appears to be an indent, which could suggest either an obstruction in the striking process or a large flaw in this area.
PCGS# 685185.
From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier from McCawley and Grellman's C4 Sale, November 1999, lot 161; Jim LaSarre, via John Agre and Dave Wnuck (Coin Rarities Online), June 2006.
