1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 33.4-Z.2, W-3410. Rarity-6. Draped Bust Left. Fine Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).
145.4 grains. Granular olive brown with a trace of ruddiness at Liberty's bust. Minor natural flaws spider across the effigy's face while a few seen on the reverse are largely obscured by the granularity. Well centered and fairly well balanced in appearance despite the wear. Painted die variety in the left obverse field, probably by Frederick Canfield and thus one of his duplicates.
PCGS# 685169.
From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier ex Frederick Canfield; Richard Picker; our (Bowers and Merena's) sale of the Norweb Collection, March 1988, lot 2540; Jim LaSarre, via John Agre and Dave Wnuck (Coin Rarities Online), June 2006.
