1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 29.1-p, W-3155. Rarity-5. Draped Bust Left. VF-20 (PCGS).
136.8 grains. Glossy rich chocolate brown with some darker patina outlining many of the design features. A few trivial natural striated planchet flaws are toned more deeply but have little bearing on the overall quality. A couple of small rim marks are noted, and the reverse is centered a little low and to the left with tops of INDE just over the rim. The date is present, but ghostly. A later die state for this reverse here used in the second of two pairings. Cracked from Liberty's head through the legend at right. Weakly struck at the centers but very pleasing overall and featuring a Hays painted die variety in the left field.
PCGS# 685379.
