1786 Connecticut Copper. Miller 5.5-M, W-2595. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Left. AU-50 (PCGS).
146.2 grains. Medium brown on the obverse with the faintest nuance of mahogany patina. Microgranular, but with a fairly glossy appearance aside from a few faint streaked natural planchet flaws. The reverse is quite similar but accented by a bit more olive brown than mahogany and it is less flawed. Centered a little high on the obverse and a trifle low on the reverse. Nice visual appeal, while a painted die variety on the edge reveals the notable provenance to Dr. Thomas Hall.
PCGS# 686354. NGC ID: 2B2G.
