1785 Connecticut Copper. Miller 8-D, W-2455. Rarity-5+. Mailed Bust Left. Fine-15 (PCGS).
130.1 grains. Light steel brown with some warmer golden brown on the high points. Generally glossy but with mild granularity and a few thin, striated natural planchet flaws on both sides. Well centered on both sides, but weak through the obverse center and upper left as often seen. Equally weak at the lower left reverse (which is less common), suggesting the contribution of an uneven flan. A nearly full date and clear legends where struck up.
PCGS# 686820.
From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier ex Dix-Noonan-Webb Galleries, London, October 2005.
