1785 Connecticut Copper. Miller 5-F.5, W-2385. Rarity-4. Mailed Bust Right. EF-40 (PCGS).
130.5 grains. Attractive glossy milk chocolate brown on both sides with appealing uniformity and eye appeal. Well struck with excellent centering; the legends and date are all complete. One small natural flaw blends into the hair on the obverse, while a larger natural imperfection is at the lower left reverse, but this is still a very nice example of the variety. Even the AU-graded Ford coin was flawed, and arguably much more unattractively so though the technical grade is superior. The early die state which still shows fairly good form in the effigy's neck, though there is evidence of die sinking. For the color, sharpness and overall eye appeal this would not be an easy example to beat without a lot of patience.
