Description
An Excessively Rare Spelling Error Variety
MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1746-Mo MF. Mexico City Mint. Philip V. NGC EF-40.
KM-103; Cal-1471; Yonaka-M8-46B. Variety with "VTRUQUE" misspelling. This error legend variety is EXTREMELY RARE, being one of just three known. The last example to sell, graded slightly lower at VF-35, brought an all-in price of $7,800 in our 2018 August ANA Auction. This piece is slightly nicer, showing greater definition throughout along with an attractive medium gray tone and traces of original luster in the fields. Legend variants are always popular within the Columnario series, so this lot represents an exceptional opportunity for serious collectors to capture an example of this variety which may not appear in auction again for many years.
