MEXICO. 4 Reales, ND (1541-42)-oPo oMo. Mexico City Mint. Carlos and Johanna. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details.
KM-17; Cal-124; Nesmith-21 (unknown). Weight: 13.37 gms. "Early Series". A RARE variety with the assayer to the left of the shield; Nesmith could not locate a single example though he did assign it a catalog number. Graded rather conservatively, this piece presents satisfying detail on each side accented by an even dove gray coloration. Light cleaning was noted but this does not diminish the coin's elegant appearance.
