Of the Highest Rarity
CHILE. 8 Reales, 1773-So DA. Santiago Mint. Charles III. PCGS VF-30.
KM-31; Cal-1207. The EXTREME RARITY of this first date of issue for Santiago is difficult to overstate; this example is the finer of just two certified by either major service. Subjected only to light, honest wear, this remarkable survivor lacks any notable flaw or defect. The central devices are well struck-up and the crucial date is shown sharply defined. Rich cabinet toning covers both sides and adds a sophistication far beyond the assigned grade. Likely the most challenging date in Santiago's entire bust 8 Reales series, this issue is missing from many of the most advanced Latin American cabinets.
