Magnificent Near-Mint "Royal" 8 Reales
BOLIVIA. "Royal" Presentation Cob 8 Reales, 1738-P M. Potosi Mint. Philip V. NGC AU-58.
KM-R31A; Cal-1508; Lazaro-289. Weight: 27.12 gms. This marvelous presentation issue resides at the cusp of Mint State status. The perfectly round planchet lacks any peripheral legends but impeccably frames the central devices of both sides. Lacking any of the nearly-ubiquitous holes found on the issue, the surfaces retain a crisp, lightly frosty finish that attests to the coin's exceedingly light handling. Subtle traces of luster accent the dignified cabinet tone. A top-class representative of the date, and among the loveliest examples of Philip V's Potosi royal issuances in general.
