Choice AU 1842-O $10
Conditionally Challenging Issue
1842-O Liberty Head Eagle. Winter-3. AU-55 (NGC).
A light yellow gold dominates with richer accents seen as you rotate the surfaces in a light. Nicely struck with bold to sharp definition throughout, particularly on the eagle's feathers, the surfaces show just a hint of friction on the fields and on the high points of the design elements. Only 27,400 examples were struck, and they circulated extensively, coins graded AU-55 and higher are quite rare. This is pleasing example in Choice AU, worthy of an advanced set of No Motto tens.
