Description
1886 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-64 (NGC).
Handsome, essentially untoned surfaces exhibit a slight cameo effect. One wonders why this one did not get a Cameo rating by NGC. The surfaces are expectably smooth at the Choice Proof grade level, however, the coin's appearance is a bit subdued, this possibly the grade-limiting factor. A low mintage date with only 886 pieces struck in the Proof format. This example would make a welcome addition to any advanced collection of Liberty Seated half dollars or perhaps even a type set.
