1862 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-65 Cameo (NGC).
This 1862 Gem Cameo Proof half dollar is an exceptionally well preserved specimen. Pronounced field-device contrast is evident at all angles, but is almost breathtaking when the coin is tilted slightly beneath a light source. The razor-sharp strike on all design elements enhances even more the cameo effect. Fully brilliant and snow-white overall, even close examination reveals no marks of consequence. This piece exhibits fantastic eye appeal. Only 550 Proofs were struck for collectors this year.
