FRANCE. National Convention. Bronze 1/2 Sol Module Essai (Pattern), 1792. Paris Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Brown.
cf. Maz-378 (for rev.) & Maz-379 (for rev.). Plain edge. By M. Brézin. Weight: 3.60 gms. EXTREMELY RARE and seemingly unlisted, this muling of reverse types exhibits rich chestnut brown surfaces and some enchanting brilliance among the fields. Margolis notes that it has been "...struck from clean (i.e., not rusty) dies, so evidently a contemporary striking done in 1792. "
From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Guillard on 23 May 2003). Ex: Patrick Guillard FPL (5/2003).
