FRANCE. National Convention. Bronze 5 Sols Module Essai (Pattern) Restrike, "Year 1/1792" (ca. mid 19th Century). Paris Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-62 Brown.
cf. Maz-366/365 (for obv./rev.). Plain edge. After M. Brézin. This odd and VERY RARE pairing of dies would seem to be a later restrike on account of the heavily rusted dies. Mostly deeper brown in nature on the fasces side, with some lighter hues of red on the text side.
From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Jean Vinchon in Paris on 17 March 1957).
