FRANCE. National Convention. Bronze 5 Sols Module Essai (Pattern) Restrike, "Year 4/1792" (ca. mid 19th Century). Paris Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Brown.
cf. Maz-365/366 (for obv./rev.). Rough plain edge. After M. Brézin. Given the heavily rusted nature of both sides, it is extremely probable that this "method of striking" issue is in fact a later restrike. Nevertheless, a VERY RARE and interesting pairing of dies.
From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from J. Dreifuss in Zürich on 23 September 1965).
