FRANCE. Kingdom. Copper Sol, 1791-A. Paris Mint. PCGS AU-50.
cf. KM-578.1 (for regular issue); cf. Gad-350 (same); cf. Ciani-2194 (same). Second semester. Diameter: 35mm; Weight: 18.79 gms. Struck upon an exceptionally broad and heavy planchet for the type, this oddity displays a few edge splits. An olive-brown specimen with some enchanting brilliance remaining, and a VERY RARE and intriguing one at that.
From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Schulman on 15 October 1971). Ex: Hans Schulman (10/1971) Lot # 1563.
