FRANCE. Kingdom. Duo of White Metal Mated Pair Clichés or Trials for Louis d'or aux palmes (2 Pieces), 1774-A. Paris Mint. Louis XVI. Both PCGS Certified.
Fr-Unlisted; KM-Unlisted; cf. Gad-358a (for regular issue); Ciani-Unlisted. By B. Duvivier. An intriguing pairing for the much RARER of the two Louis d'or types issued in 1774, namely with the date on the reverse placed directly above the crowned shield as opposed to at the upper left. Both remain light gray in hue, with some enchanting luster apparent among the fields. 1) Obverse: PCGS MS-62. 2) Reverse: PCGS MS-64.
