Description

1856 Silver Three-Cent Piece. MS-66 (NGC).
A ghosting of charcoal patination on the reverse is backlit by mostly brilliant surfaces across this gorgeous Gem. The motifs are nicely impressed and exhibit a patchwork of die polish (as made) in the surrounding fields. A truly dazzling and lustrous example. Although NGC has certified more than 200 Mint State 1856 trimes over the years, a scant nine examples have been awarded a grade of MS-66 with none finer.
