Description
SWEDEN. Gustaf V/Loyalty and Diligence Gold Medal, 1934. UNCIRCULATED.
Dimensions: 46.95 x 33.44 mm; Weight: 29.34 gms. By Johan Adolf Lindberg. Obverse: Bust of Gustaf V left, legend around; Reverse: Four-line inscription within wreath, legend below; edge engraved: EDUARD HENNING AXELSSON 1934 in script. This nicely produced medal offers frosty devices with reflective fields. Close inspection reveals light signs of handling as would be expected for the issue. This medal was issued in two formats depending on the length of service and was awarded between 1836 and 2005. A larger version of approximately 55 gms for service of at least 25 years and a smaller version of approximately 30 gms for service of at least 15 years such as the present piece. The Stockholm City Archives now contain the documentation pertaining to these medals of which more than 10,000 were issued.
