ROMAN REPUBLIC. Anonymous. AE Aes Grave As (280.73 gms), Rome Mint, ca. 225-217 B.C. CHOICE VERY FINE.
Cr-36/1; TV-57; Syd-78; HN Italy-337. Obverse: Head of bearded Janus on a raised disk; Reverse: Prow of galley left; | (mark of value) above; all on a raised disk. A fairly RARE issue with the prow facing left, this enticing specimen features deep green-brown surfaces and an overall attractive appearance and state of preservation.
From the Senator Platt Family Collection, started prior to 1870.
