Finest Graded Example for Type
BARBADOS. Government of Barbados. 5 Dollars, 1.6.1943. P-4b. PMG About Uncirculated 55 EPQ.
The quintessential representative for the type, and the sole finest in the PMG population report. While another example has been graded AU55 it lacks the EPQ designation, making this example not just better but also preferable. Fantastic color is seen on this note, with must have spent mere minutes (if that) in circulation. The ink is still fresh about eight decades after it was first applied, and the embossing and originality are strong. It is difficult not to use more superlatives for this note, as it is truly the best example of the type we have ever encountered. With just two issued dates of the $5 denomination it is difficult to imagine that an even better example exists anywhere. An exceptional opportunity for the British Commonwealth or Caribbean specialist and one not to be missed, as we don't know when the chance to buy this type in such a lofty grade will present itself again.
