Dundaff, Pennsylvania. Northern Bank of Pennsylvania. 18xx $5. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Proof.
India paper mounted on card. No imprint, but similar to the style of Durand & Wright. Plate C. Top right, Aurora on her chariot. Left end panel, William Penn in both corners. Listed Rarity-7 as a proof issue by Haxby. This bank was a fraud and concealed its actual title using a hard to read Gothic script that resembles an ornamental feature more than anything. The note was meant to be mistaken for a note from the solvent and solid Bank of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
