Fr. 218. 1886 $1 Silver Certificate. PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
Issued under the administration of Benjamin Harrison based on the engraved Treasury signatures of Rosecrans and Huston, this example of this most ornate type experienced only limited circulation in its time before evading redemption through some unlikely means. Bold colors and ornate details underscore the aesthetic excess that found itself favored by the Treasury Department in the waning years of the Nineteenth Century. In all, a lovely example of an iconic and bold design that will eventually come to grace the collection of the lucky winning bidder.
