Greeley, Colorado. $5 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1800-1. The Greeley Union NB. Charter #4437. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
Named for the renowned newspaper publisher and one-time presidential candidate Horace Greeley, Greeley Colorado is located just north of Denver and accounts for one of the few cities in the state outside of Denver and Colorado Springs. First chartered in 1890 before closing its doors in 1934 likely as a result of the Great Depression, the Greeley Union National Bank is one of the few charters in Colorado to be considered "available" outside of Denver as even those from Colorado Springs make infrequent appearances at best.
