In business from 1844 to 1999, the Seneca Knitting Mills was a long-standing fixture in Seneca Falls. Issued by that institution and payable at the Bank of Seneca Falls, this note is vaguely reminiscent of the Legal Tender Notes issued during the 1870s on account of the pinkish-red overprint and features a centermost vignette that was once a mainstay of many Obsolete notes. The building which housed this business has since been partially demolished and repurposed into the National Women's Hall of Fame.
