INDIA. Mysore. Woderyar Dynasty. Pagoda, ND. Uncertain Mint. Haider Ali Khan (AH1174-97 [1761-82]). NGC AU-58.
Fr-1346; KM-15. Obverse: Siva and Parvati seated; Reverse: Arabic 'ح' on stippled background. Die axis 4 o'clock. Boldly struck, lustrous and quite attractive. Earning an important place in southern Indian history for his military prowess and bureaucratic intuition, the kingdom of Mysore saw many advancements under his reign. He became the de facto ruler as Sarvadhikari by 1761 and offered strong resistance to British invaders.
