Fr. 1132-D. 1918 $500 Federal Reserve Note. Cleveland. PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
A rare issue regardless of circumstance, this note is just 1 of 10 examples of this Friedberg according to the PMG population report and 1 of 14 according to data compiled by Track & Price. A visually striking note in its own right, a dignified visage of Chief Justice John Marshall is front and center while the reverse is dominated a vignette titled "DeSoto Discovering the Mississippi" adapted from a painting painted by W.H. Powell (1823 - 1879) which had previously been used on the Frist Charter $10 National Bank Note. In a technical and aesthetic sense, light circulation is observed and great color is evident on both the face and reverse specifically the contrasts in color readily evident on the reverse vignette. Overall, a premium example sure to please the advanced collector.
