Evenly circulated and featuring a large brown spiked Treasury Seal to left of Manning's portrait along with the signatures of Register William S. Rosecrans and Treasurer James N. Huston. The reverse like many comparable notes of the era features an ornate reverse design that eschews open space and is commonly referred to by collectors as the "Diamond Back" for the intricate reverse design which was soon disfavored with the "Series of 1891."
