Fr. 6. 1861 $10 Demand Note. New York. PCGS Currency Extremely Fine 45. Face Proof.
Similar to Hessler-463B. Face proof printed on thick bond paper. American Banknote Company Imprint. Without protector or serial numbers. Plate C. "For the" engraved. Bust of Lincoln, left. Allegory of Art, right. Not quite a proof in terms of sharpness of the impression but certainly more complete than an experimental piece. PCGS Currency mentions "Small Edge Tears" in the comments section of the holder. The $10 denomination is rare among proofs and essays for the Demand Note series. The offered piece is a nice change from the typically encountered, red numbered face color proofs.
From the Caine Collection.
