Description

1867-S Liberty Head Double Eagle. AU-58 (NGC).

A lustrous, nearly Mint State example of this early Type II double eagle. Nearly full mint brilliance glows on both sides, unimpacted by he light wear. Scattered ticks, normal on these large gold coins of this grade level are seen but none are serious. Well defined details on both sides stand out. All told a lovely example. Like most early San Francisco Mint Type II $20s, this is a very difficult date to find in Mint State.

PCGS# 8952. NGC ID: 26A2.

Estimate: $5000
