1849 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. MS-60 (PCGS).
Rich medium-gold surfaces exhibit a vibrant satiny lustrous sheen. Sharply struck on the obverse, the reverse is a bit softer, especially over the highpoints of the eagle, as sometimes seen. With no trace of wear on the surfaces, we note only light wispy handling marks which account for the MS-60 grade, none of which are worthy of singular concern. Only 23,294 examples were struck, and this date is extremely challenging in any Mint State grade.
