1855-O Gold Dollar. Type II. Winter-2. MS-61 (NGC).
Some 55,000 gold dollars were struck in New Orleans in 1855, the sole issuance of New Orleans Type II gold dollars. Survivors are scarce, especially so in Mint State. This strictly Uncirculated example shows no wear and minimal contact anywhere on the surfaces. The devices are crisply defined and the luster frosty with a bright yellow-golden glow. A date that is quite challenging any finer, this lovely MS-61 will delight any collector of gold dollars.
