Description

1896-O Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-61 (PCGS). OGH Rattler.

A well known condition rarity, the vast majority of the mintage of 4,900,000 must have been stored in government vaults and melted down in 1918 under the auspices of the Pittman Act. This BU example has boldly defined devices and a brilliant luster. Some delicate peripheral rose-gold toning can be seen when rotating this 96-O in a light. Still housed in a first generation "rattler" holder, this coin will delight any Morgan dollar enthusiast.

PCGS# 7242. NGC ID: 2563.

Estimate: $1800
