1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-68 * (NGC).
A truly fabulous toned Superb Gem 81-S Morgan dollar. This is as coin that is worthy of NGC's "*" designation for exceptional eye appeal and then some. Save for a crescent shaped band of untoned surface from the tip of Liberty's headband down to the lowest hair curls at the back of her neck, the surfaces are awash in rainbow toning. From fuchsia that melds with rich royal blue, gold, rose, teal, cobalt, tangerine, and copper all appear to one extent or another as you rotate the intensely lustrous surfaces in a light source. A truly delightful example, one that will appeal to the specialist in gorgeously toned Morgan dollars. Good luck as bidding will be as intense as the colors.
