Description

1865 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-64 Ultra Cameo (NGC).

Lovely golden-tinged surfaces allow ready appreciation of razor sharp striking detail and exceptionally sharp field to device contrast. A gorgeous representative of both the type and the issue. Only eight grading events in the Deep/Ultra Cameo category are reported by PCGS and NGC combined. Such dramatic contrast is always in strong collector demand, and is unusual to find on a Proof coin from the Civil War era - which makes this piece all the more desirable.

PCGS# 96419. NGC ID: 27TS.

NGC Census: 1; 4 finer (Proof-66 Ultra Cameo finest). These are the only grading events listed in the Ultra Cameo category. PCGS also reports only four grading events in their Deep Cameo category.

From the Arlington Collection.

Estimate: $4500
