Description

1863-S Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-4. Rarity-3. Small Broken S. MS-64+ (PCGS).

Highly lustrous, satin-textured surfaces with enhancing blushes of reddish-gold iridescence at the left and right borders on both sides. Sharply struck, despite being a somewhat later state of these dies, there is much to recommend this conditionally rare 1863-S to the advanced Liberty Seated half dollar collector.

PCGS# 6310. NGC ID: 24JC.

PCGS Population: 5; 2 finer (both MS-65).

From the Arlington Collection. Earlier from our sale of the Richard Jewell Collection, August 2013 Chicago ANA Auction, lot 4183; our Baltimore Auction of June 2014, lot 1445.

Estimate: $6000
