1909 Indian Half Eagle. MS-65 (PCGS).
Vividly colored in amber-gold and blanketed in smooth, strong luster. Struck with precision and sharp in detail down to the smallest lowest feathers in Liberty's headdress, this example is more than adequate for the advanced type collector. A mintage of 627,000 is not to be considered low, but the true scarcity of this coin becomes plain in the Gem state of preservation. With only a small handful of higher graded examples to choose from at both PCGS and NGC, this example may be the highest graded realistically able to be acquired. In an absolute sense MS-65s are scarce of this type, and premium quality examples such as this beautiful specimen are rare when one considers the competitive demand for this series.
