Description

Fr. 479-492, 576-579b. 1882 $10 Brown Back and Value Back National Bank Note. PCGS Currency Very Choice New 64. Face Essay Proof.

Hessler-Unlisted. No plate letter. Printed on India paper, mounted on wide margin paper. Imprint of Bureau, Engraving & Printing Treasury Department curving in bottom border. Black and white portions of the face only. No title block or titles in the center. Missing charter numbers in the borders. Vignette layout like the Original Series. Left end, Franklin discovers electricity with date "1752." Lower right, Liberty with eagle, holding lightning. Without engraved signatures. Zero numbers perforated twice. A fascinating Series of 1882 essay proof which shows the prior and post configurations of the design in respect to the Aldrich-Vreeland Act. More wrinkling across the vertical centers than most of the other proofs in this set. Bold, black and beautiful.

From the Caine Collection.

Estimate: $2500.00- $3500.00
