Description

Uncut Sheet of (4) Sing Sing, New York. Bank of Sing Sing. 18xx $5-$20-$50-$100.

(NY-2580 G6a-12a-14a-16a) Six POC's along the signature panels of each note. Plates C-A-A-A. Printed on India paper. Imprint of Baldwin, Adams & Co. New York. 18__ Proof Sheet in $5-$20-$50-$100 arrangement. The $5 Proof has steamboat at center and Ceres in oval at left. Red "Lazy 5" protector below the main vignette. The $20 note shows a train heading left blasting steam from its stack. A male portrait is seen at lower left. Red "XX" protector at bottom center. The $50 note shows a trio of allegorical females (perhaps Hope, Agriculture, and Industry) at center and portrait of Major Robert Anderson at lower right. Red numerical "50" protector placed vertically at left. The $100 note shows a short dam vignette at upper left with female portrait to its right. Large red "100" protector at bottom center. The Bank of Sing Sing was organized in 1853 and lasted until closure in 1860. This ex: Ford sheet has several edge chips and tape repairs due to the somewhat more brittle nature of the India paper. We sold this sheet for $1,380 back in 2004 as part of our Ford VI sale.

Estimate: $1500.00- $2500.00
