Description

Tallahassee, Florida. Territory of Florida. 1830 $2. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.

(Cr. T9, Benice 7) No. 22. January 8, 1830. Imprint of N. & S.S. Jocelyn New Haven. Vignette of a water goddess spilling water at center. Allegorical female encircled in the left end panel. Very intricate design in cartouche right end panel. Signed by Davis Floyd with verso countersigned by state auditor Carey. A gorgeous piece and much scarcer than the $3 note. PMG notes this has been "Pen Cancelled." This note served as both Criswell and Shull plate notes. The only other $2 note we have sold was a PCGS Very Fine 35PPQ that realized just over $3,000 in our 2013 ANA sale. The quality of that note pales in comparison to tonight's sensational offering.

Estimate: $5000.00- $10000.00
